A college instructor in Mississippi has gone viral for sharing how he caught students using AI chatbots to complete a midterm exam.
Jason Gibson, an instructor at Alcorn State University, about 75 miles southwest of Jackson, Mississippi, said in a July 20 TikTok video that 32 of his 35 students failed a portion of their midterm exams for using artificial intelligence to write a discussion post about the Industrial Revolution. The clip, which as of July 29 has garnered more than 2.2 million views collectively, is part of a three-video series in which Gibson explains the situation.
Gibson did not wish to comment on the videos when contacted by USA TODAY on July 29.
